Ox

IMG_8417

it was party
in the park
Bob Geldof. South Africa.
thrust into the world
found sun shining in
winter in the wintery dew that fell over
my snowy paddock, the morning
glory glistened and sparkled
I spent my childhood
riding the horns of ambition
wisdom weaving my destiny like
I had control over what happens
when I stood alone in my pad
fenced in yellow tulips, shelter my
friends slither between
but they know, if they
cross the fence – my
wrath is all
they will
see.

I like to think I'm a story teller. I love stories. I believe the world is filled with stories just waiting to be told and learned. I enjoy travelling down the road less travelled, with my iPhone and journal in each hand. Here you'll find all my poetic musings... Enjoy!

  1. I love your poem and your image. I like the personification in the poem. It opens it up for wider interpretation than the ox. Beautiful images of nature in your writing, too.

I did not know that oxen and snakes make good friends. Here in the U.S., I once lived on a cattle farm and there were snakes. Come to think of it, I don’t think any cows (or the bull kept in his own fenced area) were ever bit by a snake (Copperheads – poisonous).

I see Doctor Who in your tags. I wrote a poem to the Doctors. It used to be posted on a former blog, but it’s not up on my current blog. It will be one day….

    1. Thanks for the beautiful comment.

Oxon and snakes are only friends in a Chinese zodiac sense. I seriously don’t recommend introducing the two for real šŸ˜‰

I look forward to seeing your interpretation of The Doctor… I am slightly obsessed when it comes to Doctor Who… šŸ™‚
