Dear Mr Shakespeare

Inspired by one of my favourite Blackadder clips…

Dear Mr Shakespeare, Today I must write

and give a whole hearted thank you, to you.

Like the sun, your words are shining so bright

across the stars and history, it’s true.

Present students are filled with weary eyes

as line by line, we dissect plays like frogs

incomprehension we cannot disguise

as we pull on our fifteenth century togs.

However, fair is fair on the world’s stage

when you master the human condition.

With your timeless life lessons on the page

so all your descendants could rendition.

So thank you for the last four hundred years

and cheers to you sir! I raise my warm beer!

#NaPoWriMo Day Eighteen – “Note to Self”

20140417-234020.jpg

I want to tell you to be brave

to step away from that brick wall

and seek the friendship that you crave

by showing the world you stand tall.

Forget the ones that say you’re weird

and ignore you till your wanted.

Find your passion; conquer your fears;

do what you do best and flaunt it!

Singing loud in the dead of night

but silent as a lamb in day?

No, you need to break out like a kite

and speak out, what you want to say!

Look around you, little missy,

you are a person – just like them;

clever, smart and sometimes witty

but you are – just another them.

Shakespeare says the world is a stage

and each of you have your role and place.

You start your lives with a blank page

each of your moments fill that space.

Live individuality –

it’s like travelling the unknown!

You’re a part of humanity

Oh, if you could see how you’ve grown!

You live on the other side now

still thinking the thoughts you’re thinking…

how you got here? you don’t know how

its just part of the travelling.

Be who you want to be, stay true

as one day, she will be you.

#NaPoWriMo14 Day Three “Here and Now”

Laneway music; apple ciders

Asian street food; Pancake Parlour

Queen Vic Market; Pot n Parma’s

Moonlight movies; Cocktail Spiders.

This is where my story is set

my first love; i’ll never forget

but, this is where my heart calls home

this place, somewhere over the foam.

Authors Note:

I recently discovered these guys on YouTube and as I was walking through the city on my way to work ‘Be Okay’ was blaring through my little white ear plugs and I thought: I love this city but more importantly I love the life I have here… thus my inspiration for Day 3 challenge.

#NaPoWriMo Day Two – Inspired by wine

This day adds another fleck of diamond

into a medley of spices and fruit.

Residing in a faraway island

moving forward on a flavoursome route.

But she holds tight onto her ruby slipper

as their roads meander; find the time

to remember playing by the river;

climbing Surrey’s hills; to hear church bells chime.

It is fair to say we improve with age

Life tastes better now we know our story

Every moment is written on our page:

our highs; our lows; our losses and glory.

Like the fine wine, that is close to our heart

We’ve got getting older down to an art.

#NaPoWriMo Day One – April Limerick

Here is a challenge to behold

Dancing words, or so I am told

I pledge to you to write

Every day; Every night

Until every word becomes gold.

This is the voice of Always Chum

She talks all day; her voice is numb

But when she is home

Her words fill the dome

Bring on PoWriMo and thensome!
