Here is a challenge to behold
Dancing words, or so I am told
I pledge to you to write
Every day; Every night
Until every word becomes gold.
This is the voice of Always Chum
She talks all day; her voice is numb
But when she is home
Her words fill the dome
Bring on PoWriMo and thensome!
zombie-fied life forms
melt amid the dead brown leaves
in summer twilight
she lets out a final breath
we will miss her warmth and love.
Finding solace in the moonlight
a little girls waits in her chair
watching the world fade into the night
her story; one day she will share.
She is all alone in her home
her friend likens her to a gnome
but there is a lot more to see
and she will show you, subtlety.
so here you are, she said you were coming
you’re not exactly what I expected
i have been trying to send you signals
i am still waiting for your reply
what, are you afraid of me? or something?
i won’t bite you. I don’t have teeth, come on!
she’s waiting for you, can’t say she’s impressed…
your maker said we would be instant friends
but, still you sit there ignoring us both
not even sending us a flicker of light
you are just a big black sheet of nothing
you’re going back if you don’t do something
so make a big noise; flash all about
and talk to her or she will throw you out
cables pull us down the street
a dance of cars, trams and cycles
about to call time
the rush of panic surges
as the clock tower strikes 9.
Here I am. Can you see me waiting here?
My eyes wander across your way, I see
You all sitting together happily
But you can’t see me, and that is my fear.
I walk with you along the corridor
And every morning squeak you a greeting
I’d share more, but I think you’d stop breathing
I’m not a well-loved little character.
One day you all will change, I hope
You will see value in my shy nature
I’m just a timid quiet achiever
Learning to breathe, learning to cope.
So before you cast me off into the wind
Take a step back, and you’ll find a good friend.

waiting in the trees
music flows down the river
a nice long weekend
everyone listening; laughing;
dancing; playing; being free
the orange hue of city lights
twinkle against a navy sky
watching over a writer writes
tales of the day show in her eyes
on her way to the land of dreams
where a little girl sits by a stream
but a few more words on the page
before she vacates today’s stage.

I ate them with ice cream, it’s true
my new year diet is at stake!
But the way you slid off the pan
a tiny pikelet in my hand
packed with lemon and baileys too
making all my day dreams come true!
